Since commencement of Aurizon Port Services (APS) in Townsville in March 2020, we have grown to a strong workforce of 150 employees cementing our reputation as one of North Queensland’s most trusted providers of integrated pit to port logistics solutions. APS is now a core part of Aurizon’s Bulk East business portfolio providing customers in North Queensland the first fully integrated pit-to-port rail solution.

About the role: We are seeking an interim Port Services Manager to continue the successful management of this business.  Overseeing the continued growth of import/export trade through the Ports of Townsville, Cairns, Mackay and Gladstone, you will assist in creating and executing efficient logistics pathways for export commodities in Queensland. Working collaboratively with your four direct reports, you will provide leadership and development to the workforce for the reliable, safe and cost - effective delivery of stevedoring, road transport, terminal, storage and handling services.

About you: We are looking for an energised, driven leader with a business development focus and a commercial mindset.  Working from the APS Townsville depot, you are motivated in leading teams that raise the bar on safety, service delivery, operational innovation and achieving business targets.

  • Negotiating and influencing diverse stakeholders is something you do with ease.
  • You’re a compassionate and empowering senior leader who thrives among change.
  • Demonstrated experience with logistics and supply chain.
  • Tertiary qualifications that could include a degree in, Business, Economics, Supply Chain or equivalent experience in heavy industry.
  • Thinking ‘big’ and challenging the norms on the art of the possible are all within your repertoire.
  • Proven experience in financial budget control and having an analytical approach to problems
